Man dies in motorcycle crash on Clinton Highway at Tillery Drive

A motorcyclist died following a crash Monday morning at the intersection of Clinton Highway and Tillery Drive.  
 
At approximately 11:00 a.m. on April 20, 2026, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Clinton Highway and Tillery Drive. 
 
Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the motorcyclist was driving southbound on Clinton Highway, while a GMC SUV was traveling eastbound on Tillery Drive. The SUV started to proceed through the intersection once the light turned green when the motorcyclist, a 67-year-old man, allegedly ran the red light on Clinton Highway and struck the side of the SUV. After the initial collision, the SUV struck another vehicle, causing minor damage. 
 
The motorcyclist was transported to UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.  

The crash remains under active investigation by KPD crash reconstruction personnel.
